Houston police have arrested two suspects charged in the fatal shooting of a woman that occurred at 8155 Richmond Avenue about 7:45 a.m. on Thursday (Oct. 1).
Alaya Sadae Jones, 20, and Kaleb John Maglott, 25, are charged with capital murder in the 482nd Criminal District Court. Booking photos of Jones and Maglott are attached to this news release.
The identity of the deceased female, 27, is pending notification to family members by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences
HPD Homicide Division Detectives D. Higgs and L. Yasin reported:
Officers responded to a person down at the above address and located a female suffering from a gunshot wound. Responding Houston Fire Department paramedics pronounced the female deceased at the scene.
A family members stated they had not heard from the victim the day prior and went to the apartment to check on her. The relative arrived at the apartment and discovered the front door unlocked and the victim unresponsive inside.
Further investigation developed information that identified the victim’s sister, Alaya Jones, and Kalen Maglott, partner to suspect Jones, as suspects in this case. Both suspects were taken into custody, interviewed by detectives and subsequently arrested and charged for their roles in this fatal shooting. Jones admitted to her role in the death of her sister.
