Houston police have arrested a suspect charged in the 2011 death of a female found at 2401 Dunvale Street about 3:20 p.m. on March 6, 2011.
Earnest Harold Smith, 54, is charged with murder in the 209th Criminal District Court. A booking photo of Smith is attached to this news release.
The victim is identified as Bridget Caldwell, 38.
HPD Homicide Division Sergeant M. Burrow reported:
On March 6, 2011, the victim was found deceased in her apartment by her father after she didn’t show up for work that morning. An autopsy later determined she had been strangled and homicide began investigation Ms. Caldwell’s death.
Smith had been romantically involved with Caldwell at the time of her death and was initially identified as a person of interest. The case was later assigned to the HPD Cold Case Squad and further follow-up was able to identify additional evidence that linked Smith to the victim’s death.
On Friday (Sept. 18) Smith was arrested and charged with murder. He was booked into the Harris County Jail.
