The fatal shooting of a man at 3400 Ocee Street about 9:15 p.m. on April 27 will be referred to a Harris County grand jury.
The deceased male is identified as Abdul Waziri, 31.
The male shooter, 31, was not injured.
HPD Homicide Division Sergeant K. Meek and Officer E. Camacho reported:
Officers responded to a report of a shooting in progress in an apartment complex parking lot at the above address and found a male lying next to a white Toyota Camry. The male, later identified as Mr. Waziri, had been shot more than one time and was transported to Ben Taub General Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
As officers were investigating the shooting they were approached by a male who stated he was the shooter and explained he and Waziri were arguing over parking. Officers retrieved the firearm and took the male’s statement regarding the shooting.
After consulting with the Harris County District Attorney’s Office, the male was released and the investigation continued.
After further investigation, detectives presented their findings to the District Attorney’s Office and it was determined the case would be referred to a grand jury for review.
