The fatal shooting of a man at 2220 Main Street about 5:25 p.m. on Wednesday (June 11) will be referred to a Harris County grand jury.
The identity of the deceased man, 40, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
The male shooter, 20, was not injured in the incident.
HPD Homicide Division Detectives H. Montealegre-Cerrato and G. Rangel reported:
HPD patrol officers responded to a shooting call at the above address and found a male with gunshot wounds in the parking lot of a business. Paramedics pronounced him deceased at the scene.
Witnesses told officers two males were involved in an altercation prior to the shooting. Preliminary investigation determined the first male was sitting in the parking lot when a second male approached, grabbed his belongings and pushed him. The first male then retrieved a firearm and fired multiple rounds, striking the second male.
After consulting with the Harris County District Attorney’s Office, it was determined the case would be referred to a grand jury for review
