Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in the fatal stabbing of a man at 4500 Travis Street about 8:10 a.m. on Saturday (May 10).
The suspect, Artur Rofi, 41, is charged with murder in the 185th State District Court. A booking photo of Rofi is attached to this news release.
The victim is identified as Craley Johnson, 66.
HPD Homicide Division Sergeant B. Roberts and Detective J. Wallschlaeger reported:
HPD patrol officers responded to an assault call at an apartment complex at the above address and found a man, Mr. Johnson, with multiple stab wounds inside an apartment. Paramedics pronounced him deceased at the scene.
Further investigation determined that the suspect, Rofi, started an altercation with the victim. The victim then used a knife to defend himself. Rofi then began to assault Johnson and used Johnson’s knife to stab him multiple times.
Officers detained Rofi at the scene. Investigators consulted the Harris County District Attorney’s Office and Rofi was subsequently charged and booked into the Harris County Jail.
