| Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in the fatal shooting of a man that occurred at 9465 Clearwood Drive about 11:05 p.m. on March 9.
The suspect, Willie L. Starks, 22, is charged with murder in the 228th State District Court. A booking photo of Starks is attached to this news release.
The victim is identified as Jevon Clark, 30.
HPD Homicide Division Sergeant R. Montalvo and Detective D. Higgs reported:
Officers responded to a shooting call and found an unresponsive male inside a vehicle in an apartment complex parking lot at the above address. Houston Fire Department paramedics pronounced the man, later identified as Mr. Clark, deceased at the scene.
A preliminary investigation determined Clark was driving into the parking lot when he was shot.
At that time, there was no known motive or suspect(s).
Further investigation identified Starks as the suspect in this case. Starks was arrested in Corinth, Mississippi, on an unrelated warrant and extradited back to the Harris County Jail. Starks provided a statement to homicide detectives and was subsequently charged for his role in this case.
