UPDATE: Suspect Arrested, Charged in Fatal Stabbing at 9503 Jensen Drive

Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in the fatal stabbing of a man at 9503 Jensen Drive about 7:40 p.m. on Tuesday (April 8).

The suspect, Ronald Wayne James, 61, is charged with murder in the 176th State District Court.  A booking photo of James is attached to this news release.

The victim is identified as Frank Cartwright, 53.

HPD Homicide Division Detectives R. Bounds and C. Davidson reported:

HPD patrol officers responded to a stabbing call in a parking lot at the above address and found Houston Fire Department paramedics with an unresponsive male who had been stabbed multiple times.  Paramedics pronounced the man, later identified as Mr. Cartwright, deceased.

A preliminary investigation and evidence from the scene determined Cartwright and a male suspect got into a physical altercation during which the suspect stabbed Cartwright.  The suspect, described only as a black male in his 50s, then fled the scene on foot.

Further investigation identified James as the suspect in this case.  James was located and arrested by HPD Northeast Patrol Division officers on Wednesday (April 9) without incident.  After providing a statement to homicide detectives, the Harris County District Attorney’s Office was contacted and James was subsequently charged for his role in the stabbing.
