| The fatal shooting of a man at 185 West Road about 3:10 p.m. on February 27 will be referred to a Harris County grand jury.
The victim is identified as Irwan Paez, 17.
HPD Homicide Division Detectives H. Montealegre, G. Rangel and H. Martinez reported:
HPD patrol officers responded to a shooting call at a restaurant drive-thru at the above address and found an unresponsive male with a gunshot wound lying on the ground. Houston Fire Department paramedics pronounced the male, later identified as Mr. Paez, deceased at the scene.
A preliminary investigation and evidence from the scene determined a red Dodge Ram pickup truck was seen leaving the scene immediately after an altercation between several juveniles. The pickup truck was later found in the area of Laura Koppe Road and multiple people were detained. At that time, there were no arrests or charges in this incident.
Further investigation identified one individual, 19, who was charged with tampering with evidence in this incident. Due to the ongoing nature of this investigation and the individual being a possible witness in the grand jury process, his information and booking photo are not being released at this time.
