UPDATE: Suspect Charged, Wanted in October 2024 Fatal Shooting at 2901 Fulton Street

Charges have been filed against a suspect wanted in the fatal shooting of a man at 2901 Fulton Street about 11:50 a.m. on October 29, 2024.

The suspect, JaVory McDuell, 16, is charged with capital murder.  A photo of McDuell is attached to this news release.  *As a juvenile, his identity and photo were approved for release with a court order from a district judge.*

The victim is identified as Isaiah Avila, 17.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeants R. Watson and M. Burrow reported:

Officers responded to a shooting call in the apartment complex parking lot at the above address and found a male suffering from a gunshot wound.  Houston Fire Department paramedics pronounced the victim, later identified as Mr. Avila, deceased at the location.

Further investigation led to the identities of the suspects as three juvenile males.  Two of them are in the custody of Harris County Juvenile Probation authorities.

On February 24, a judge in the 314th District Court signed an order permitting HPD to release the name and a photo of the wanted juvenile suspect, McDuell.
