Houston police are investigating a fatal crash at 7700 North Freeway (North Interstate Highway 45) service road about 8:35 p.m. last Friday (February 7).
The deceased male is identified as Markeveon Miller, 20.
HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant J. Richards and Officer F. Flynn reported:
A black Pontiac G6 was traveling at a high rate of speed northbound on the freeway, possibly racing a blue Mercedes Benz 320 sedan. Both vehicles exited the freeway at West Gulf Bank Road. The Pontiac crossed lanes of traffic on the service road, and struck the far right curb. The Pontiac then drove onto a grassy area, struck a culvert and rolled several times.
Houston Fire Department paramedics responded to the scene and transported Miller, the driver of the Pontiac, to an area hospital where he was pronounced deceased.
The male driver of the Mercedes saw the crash and returned to the scene. He was determined not to be impaired, questioned and released.
The investigation is continuing.
