Apartment Fire in The Sharpstown Area

WHAT: Apartment fire.

WHEN: February 6, 2025, at 12:30 p.m.

WHERE: 9215 Bellwood Ln. 77036.

INJURIES: No reported injuries.

PROPERTY SAVED: Not available.

DAMAGE: $1,000,000 in estimated damage.

CAUSE: Accidental (candle).

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Firefighters arrived on scene to find fire coming from a second-floor window and lapping into an attic of a 2-story apartment building. They made an offensive attack and ventilated the building. A primary search was completed, and the utilities were controlled. Additional HFD units were requested and crews rotated until the fire was fully controlled and extinguished. 16 units suffered from varying degrees of damage. The American Red Cross was notified to assist the residents. HFD Arson investigators were requested to determine the cause and origin and found that the fire was accidental, from unattended burning candles. 50 personnel responded to this incident, including firefighters from Stations 2, 15, 68, 83, 10, 28, 51, 60, 69, 57, Rescue 10 and Rescue 42.
