WHAT: Community center fire.
WHEN: January 19, 2025, at 4:55 p.m.
WHERE: 3815 Live Oak St. 77004.
INJURIES: No reported injuries.
PROPERTY SAVED: $720,000 in estimated property saved.
DAMAGE: $230,000 in estimated damage.
CAUSE: HFD Arson investigators ruled the cause as accidental (electrical issue in the ceiling void space).
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Firefighters arrived on scene to find heavy smoke coming from a small 1-story community center. They made an offensive attack and conducted a primary search. The occupants were alerted by the fire alarm system and safely exited the building. Two additional engine units were requested, and the fire was brought under controlled and extinguished. HFD Arson investigators were requested to determine the cause and origin of the fire. 44 personnel responded to this incident, including firefighters from Stations 25, 15, 6, 8, 46, 7, 17, 18, 16, 24 and Heavy Rescue 11.
