| Houston police are investigating a fatal crash at 5300 East Freeway (East Interstate Highway 10) service road about 2:40 p.m. on Thursday (January 30).
The identity of the deceased male, 47, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant F. Briones and Officer R. Leibold reported:
The male was standing on the sidewalk of the service road near the above address, stepped into the roadway – not in a crosswalk – and was struck by a silver Dodge Ram pickup truck traveling westbound on the service road. The driver stopped and remained at the scene.
Houston Fire Department paramedics transported the male to Ben Taub General Hospital where he was pronounced deceased. The male driver, 52, was determined not to be impaired and was questioned and released.
The investigation is continuing.
