Houston police are investigating a fatal hit and run crash at 7400 Fondren Road about 3:15 a.m. on Sunday (January 26).
The identity of the deceased female, 27, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant J. Richards and Officer C. Ballard reported:
The female (victim) was driving a black Chevrolet Impala westbound near the above address and attempted to make a U-turn or left hand turn and was struck by the driver of a red Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck traveling eastbound on Fondren Road at a high rate of speed. The Impala continued forward and came to a stop against a median on the left side of the roadway. The Silverado went over the right curb, the sidewalk and came to a stop in a paved area. The driver of the Silverado then fled the scene on foot prior to police arrival and did not stop to render aid.
Houston Fire Department paramedics responded to the scene and transported the female to Memorial Hermann-Texas Medical Center where she was pronounced deceased.
