| Houston police are investigating a fatal crash at 5000 North Freeway (North Interstate Highway 45) about 10:55 p.m. on Thursday (January 16).
The identity of the deceased male, 24, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant J. Richards and Officer J. Best reported:
The male, a pedestrian, was walking westbound across the lanes of traffic on the freeway. The driver of a red Honda HRV traveling southbound on the freeway changed lanes in an attempt to avoid the male, but was unable to do so and struck the male. Houston Fire Department paramedics responded to the scene and pronounced the male deceased.
The male driver, 24, was determined not to be impaired and was questioned and released.
The investigation is continuing.
