House Fire in The Alief Area

WHAT: House fire.

WHEN: November 26, 2024, at 1:24 p.m.

WHERE: 10600 block of Chapel Hill Dr. 77099.

INJURIES: Two firefighters were injured and treated on scene.

PROPERTY SAVED: Not available.

DAMAGE: $250,000 in estimated damage.

CAUSE: Unintentional (heat source too close to combustibles).

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Firefighters arrived on scene to find fire coming from the first floor of a 2-story house and made an offensive attack. A primary search was completed with no one found. The resident had safely made it out of the home. Crews extinguished the fire on the exterior of the house and first floor. The fire had spread to the second floor and attic and crews ventilated the roof. The fire was fully extinguished with two firefighters suffering from minor burns. They were both evaluated and treated on scene. A fire in a fireplace/firebox grew out of control, filled the home with smoke and spread to nearby combustibles. 49 personnel responded to this incident, including crews from Stations 76, 2, 68, 83, 10, 51, 73, 60, 57 and Rescue 10.
