2-Alarm Apartment Fire in The Eldridge / West Oaks Area

WHAT: 2-Alarm apartment fire.

WHEN: October 21, 2024, at 1:55 p.m.

WHERE: 13702 Richmond Ave. 77082.

INJURIES: One civilian was transported to the hospital.

PROPERTY SAVED: $500,000 in estimated property saved.

DAMAGE: $1,500,000 in estimated damage.

CAUSE: Under investigation.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Firefighters arrived on scene to find to find heavy fire coming from several units of a 2-story townhome complex. They made an offensive attack and controlled the fire on the first floor so they could advance to the second floor. A second alarm was requested as crews made an attack on the fire in the roof and between the walls. As crews moved to the second floor, the landing collapsed, and a firefighter fell to the first floor. He was able to move to safety with complaints of pain and was transported to the hospital. One civilian was also transported to the hospital. Crews extinguished the fire and requested HFD Arson to determine the cause and origin. 86 personnel responded to this incident, including firefighters from Stations 12, 34, 51, 69, 2, 28, 78, 83, 10, 57, 73, 75, 76, 86, 11, 49, 37, 24, 15, Heavy Rescue 11, Rescue 10 and Rehab 42.
