WHAT: Duplex fire.
WHEN: October 15, 2024, at 7:55 p.m.
WHERE: 3100 block of Wentworth St. 77004
INJURIES: One civilian transported to the hospital with a minor injury.
PROPERTY SAVED: Not available.
DAMAGE: $200,000 in estimated damage.
CAUSE: HFD Arson investigators ruled the cause as accidental.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Firefighters arrived on scene with fire coming form the back of a 1-story apartment building. They made an offensive attack and entered the apartment of origin. Crews extinguished a fire in the back yard and stopped the fire from spreading to a nearby exposure. The ceiling was pulled, and fire was found in the attic. The roof was ventilated, and the fire was extinguished. A primary search was completed and HFD Arson investigators were requested to determine the cause and origin of the fire. One resident was transported to the hospital with burns. 42 personnel responded to this incident, including firefighters from Stations 7, 23, 8, 46, 7, 16, 25, 18, 24 and Rehab 8.
