Suspect Arrested, Charged in Fatal Shooting at 2691 Melbourne Street

Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in the fatal shooting of a man at 2691 Melbourne Street about 12:55 a.m. last Friday (November 29).

The suspect, Marcus Tucker, 64, is charged with murder in the 209th State District Court.  A booking photo of Tucker is attached to this news release.

He is accused for his role in the killing of Leon Ratcliff, 69.

HPD Homicide Division Detectives A. Ledford and K. Hale reported:

HPD patrol officers responded to a shooting call in the roadway at the above address and found an unresponsive man with a gunshot wound.  Officers provided medical assistance until Houston Fire Department paramedics arrived to the scene.  Paramedics transported the man, later identified as Mr. Ratcliff, to Lyndon B. Johnson Hospital where he was pronounced deceased.

A preliminary investigation determined Ratcliff and and an unknown male suspect got into an argument in the roadway, which led to the shooting.

Further investigation identified Tucker as the suspect in this case.  The Harris County District Attorney’s Office was contacted and a murder charge was filed.  Tucker was arrested on Saturday (November 30) without incident and was booked into the Harris County Jail.
