Suspect Charged, Wanted in Fatal Shooting at 1050 West Rankin Road

Charges have been filed against a suspect wanted in the fatal shooting of a man that occurred at 1050 West Rankin Road about 12:20 p.m. on Monday (Nov. 18).

The suspect, Elijah D. Johnson, 32, is charged with murder in the 180th State District Court. An October 2024 booking photo of Johnson, who is not in custody, is attached to this news release.

The identity of the victim, 34, is pending notification to family members by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant R. Montalvo and Detective D. Higgs reported:

HPD patrol officers responded to a report of a shooting in a strip center parking lot at the above address and found the victim suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Responding Houston Fire Department paramedics transported the male to an area hospital where he was pronounced deceased.

Further investigation and witness statements identified the suspect as Johnson. After consulting the Harris County District Attorney’s Office, a murder charge was filed against him. He currently remains at-large.
