Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in the fatal shooting of a man at 5610 Palms Street about 6:30 p.m. on Saturday (November 16).
The suspect, Akeem Boothe, 42, is charged with murder in the 262nd State District Court. A booking photo of Boothe is attached to this news releases.
The identity of the victim, 37, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
HPD Homicide Division Detectives G. Rangel and H. Montealegre reported:
HPD patrol officers responded to a shooting at an apartment complex and found the victim suffering from a gunshot wound in a staircase. Paramedics pronounced him deceased at the scene.
Witnesses told investigators the victim and another male were involved in a verbal altercation. The male walked to his apartment, retrieved a firearm, confronted the victim and shot him.
Officers were able to identify Boothe as the suspect in this incident and detained him at the scene. Investigators consulted the Harris County District Attorney’s Office and charges were accepted against Boothe. He was subsequently arrested and booked into the Harris County Jail.
