The fatal shooting of a man at 7702 Avenue I about 6:20 p.m. on Thursday (Sept. 26) will be referred to a Harris County grand jury.
The identity of the deceased male, 17, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
The shooter, 46, sustained non-life-threatening injuries.
HPD Homicide Division Sergeant N. Lazo and Detective A. Finlay reported:
Officers responded to a shooting in-progress call outside a residence at the above address and located a male on a sidewalk. He had sustained multiple gunshot wounds. Paramedics pronounced the man deceased.
The shooter, who remained at the scene, had numerous facial injuries. He stated he was assaulted by four unknown men, managed to take a gun from one of them and then shot that male because he was in fear for his life.
The facts of the incident were presented to the Harris County District Attorney’s Office and it was determined the incident would be presented to a grand jury.
