Investigation into Fatal Shooting at 3005 Elpyco Street

The fatal shooting of a man at 3005 Elpyco Street about 8:20 p.m. on Saturday (September 21) will be referred to a Harris County grand jury.

The identity of the deceased male, 18, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

The male shooter, 30, was not injured.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant C. Ponder and Detectives G. Rangel and H. Martinez reported:

HPD patrol officers responded to a shooting call at a residence at the above address and found an unresponsive man with gunshot wounds inside the house.  Houston Fire Department paramedics responded to the scene and pronounced the man deceased.  A male suspect left the scene and later turned himself in to police.

Further investigation and witness statements determined the two males got into an argument while inside the residence.  At some point, one male produced a gun and pointed it at the other male.  Fearing for his life, the male retrieved a firearm from his pocket and fired at the other male, who was fatally struck.

The Harris County District Attorney’s Office was contacted and it was determined the case would be referred to a grand jury for review.
