WHAT: Vacant building fire.
WHEN: August 22, 2024, at 6:44 p.m.
WHERE: 6400 block of Gulf Freeway at Griggs, 77023.
INJURIES: No reported injuries.
PROPERTY SAVED: $84,000 in estimated property/contents saved.
DAMAGE: $210,000 in estimated property/contents damaged.
CAUSE: Under investigation.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Firefighters arrived on scene to find a small vacant building on fire and made an offensive attack. The fire vented through the structure. A primary and secondary search were completed, and the fire was extinguished. HFD Arson investigators were requested to determine the cause and origin. 34 personnel responded to this incident, including crews from Stations 40, 23, 20, 26, 18 and 24.
