WHAT: Apartment fire.
WHEN: July 8, 2024, at 7:18 p.m.
WHERE: 8902 Spring Branch Dr. 77080.
INJURIES: No reported injuries.
PROPERTY SAVED: $362,000 in estimated property saved.
DAMAGE: $23,000 in estimated damage.
CAUSE: Under investigation.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Firefighters arrived on scene to find fire coming from a 2-story apartment building and made an attack on the fire. A primary search was conducted with the report of a possible burn victim; however, it was determined that the individual had rescued a pet and already left the scene to take the animal to the vet. Crews extinguished the fire and used fans to ventilate the smoke from the unit. The nearby units were checked with only residual smoke found. The Houston Police Department was requested for traffic control and the manager was on scene. The manager reported sparks were seen coming from a window A/C unit with residents attempting to extinguish the fire prior to HFDs arrival. 32 personnel responded to this incident, including firefighters from Stations 2, 5, 62, 77 and 38.
