Investigation into Fatal Crash at 12600 East Freeway

Houston police are investigating a fatal crash that occurred at 12600 East Freeway about 12 a.m. on Saturday (August 10).

The identity of the deceased male, 36, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant J. Richards and Officer J. Johnson reported:

A white Lexus HS was traveling westbound on the main lanes of the freeway near the above address when a male pedestrian walked into the moving lane of traffic in front of the vehicle.  The driver was unable to stop and struck the pedestrian.  The driver immediately stopped her vehicle, and her vehicle was struck from behind by a red Kia Sorrento, also traveling westbound on the freeway.

Houston Fire Department paramedics responded to the scene and pronounced the pedestrian deceased.  The female driver, 52, of the Lexus was transported to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.  The female driver of the Kia, 42, and four passengers were also transported to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The investigation is continuing.
