2ND UPDATE: Wanted Suspect Arrested in 2022 Fatal Shooting at 303 Rosamond Street

A suspect wanted and charged in the fatal shooting of a woman at 303 Rosamond Street about 11:55 p.m. on February 23, 2022 is in custody.

The suspect, John Marcos Araniva, 21, is charged with murder and tampering with evidence in the 183rd State District Court.  A booking photo of Araniva is attached to this news release.

Two other suspects – Joel Francisco Rojas, 25, and Sara Ramirez, 23 – are charged in the 184th State District Court.  Rojas is charged with murder and tampering with evidence and Ramirez is charged with tampering with evidence.  Booking photos of Rojas and Ramirez are also attached to this news release.

The three suspects are charged for their roles in the killing of Indigo Garza, 20.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant T. Hollohazy and Detective J. Jorsch reported:

Officers were dispatched to a shooting call at the apartment complex at the above address and found Ms. Garza unresponsive in the parking lot.  She had suffered a gunshot wound.  Paramedics pronounced her deceased at the scene.Witnesses stated the suspect’s vehicle, described only as a white minivan, was seen fleeing the scene after the shooting.

Further investigation led to the identities of the suspects as Araniva, Rojas and Ramirez.  On Aug. 31, 2022, Rojas and Ramirez were arrested without incident.

On Tuesday (July 30), Araniva was arrested by the U.S. Marshals Service Gulf Coast Violent Offenders Task Force and booked into the Harris County Jail.
