Charges have been filed against a suspect wanted in the fatal shooting of a woman at 11900 7th Street about 1:15 p.m. on April 21.
The suspect, Jose Santiago Villatoro, 50, is charged with murder in the 209th State District Court. A photo of Villatoro, who is not in custody, is attached to this news release.
He is accused in the death of Rosenda Garcia Hernandez, 52.
HPD Homicide Division Detectives A. Vinogradov and D. Crowder reported:
HPD patrol officers responded to a shooting in the roadway at the above address and found Ms. Garcia Hernandez unresponsive inside her vehicle. She had been shot multiple times. Houston Fire Department paramedics responded to the scene and pronounced her deceased.
A preliminary investigation and witness statements determined a male suspect walked up to the victim’s vehicle and fired several shots into the vehicle. The suspect then fled the scene toward the 4200 block of Cook Road in a white Jeep Renegade SUV with black wheels
Further investigation identified the suspect as Villatoro and he was subsequently charged for his role in this incident. Investigators believe VIllatoro may have fled to Mexico.
