UPDATE: Suspect Arrested, Charged in June Fatal Shooting at 6700 Cours Street

Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in the fatal shooting of a man found at 6700 Cours Street about 11:20 p.m. on June 18.

The suspect, Roosevelt Lane Brimzy, 45, is charged with murder in the 339th State District Court.  A booking photo of Brimzy is attached to this news release.

The victim is identified as Dendre Deboest, 45.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeants M. Burrow, R. Watson and Detectives M. Perez and J. Diaz reported:

HPD patrol officers responded to a report of an auto-pedestrian crash at the intersection of Cours Street and Lynnfield Street and found an unresponsive man lying in the roadway.  Houston Fire Department paramedics responded to the scene and pronounced the man, later identified as Mr. Deboest, deceased.

A preliminary investigation determined the man had not been struck by a vehicle but had been shot at least one time.

At that time, there were no known witnesses or suspects.

Further investigation identified Brimzy as the suspect in this case.  The Harris County District Attorney’s Office was contacted and Brimzy was subsequently charged for his role in this incident.  On Monday (July 15), Brimzy was arrested by the HPD Westside Patrol Division Crime Suppression Team without incident and booked into the Harris County Jail.
