WHAT: Apartment fire.

DAMAGE: $100,000 in estimated damage.
CAUSE: HFD Arson investigators ruled the cause as accidental (unspecified electrical / mechanical malfunction in or around bathroom exhaust fan).
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Firefighters arrived on scene to find smoke coming from an apartment unit and made an offensive attack. The fire alarm and sprinkler head had been activated in the unit. Crews completed a primary search and secured the utilities and the alarm / sprinkler system. The fire was contained and extinguished with no extension into the attic or void space. The smoke was ventilated from the unit and HFD Arson investigators were requested to determine the cause of the fire. 32 personnel responded to this incident, including firefighters from Stations 68, 83, 10, 73, 76 and 57.
