Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in the shooting of a woman at 5131 Weaver Road about 3:30 p.m. on Sunday (May 12).
The suspect, Trinity Calhoun, 18, is charged with aggravated assault of a family member in the 177th State District Court. A booking photo of Calhoun is attached to this news release.
The victim, 35, was transported to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
HPD Major Assaults & Family Violence Division Detective S. De La Cruz reported:
HPD patrol officers responded to a shooting at a residence at the above address and found the victim with a non-life -threatening gunshot wound to her right leg. Houston Fire Department paramedics transported the victim to the hospital.
Further investigation determined Calhoun, the victim’s daughter, had arrived to pickup her child and the situation escalated into a disturbance. Calhoun then shot her mother and left the scene. Calhoun was later arrested a few miles from the location.
The Harris County District Attorney’s Office was contacted and Calhoun was subsequently charged for her role in the incident. Calhoun was then booked into the Harris County Jail.
