Houston police are investigating a fatal crash at 8100 Katy Freeway (West Interstate Highway 10) about 11 a.m. on Monday (May 6).
The identity of the deceased male is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

According to a witness, the driver of a maroon Kia Optima was traveling westbound at a high rate of speed on the Katy Freeway and merged into a moving lane of traffic. The witness then stated a male operating a silver Suzuki motorcycle changed lanes and struck the rear of the Kia. The male was ejected from the motorcycle.
Houston Fire Department paramedics responded to the scene and pronounced the operator of the motorcycle deceased.
The male driver of the Kia was transported to an area hospital, where he was evaluated and exhibited signs of being intoxicated. The male was charged with misdemeanor driving while intoxicated-second offense.
The investigation is continuing. Other possible charges could be filed.
