Houston police are investigating a fatal crash at 700 North Loop East (North Interstate Highway 610 East) service road about 10:35 a.m. on Saturday (May 4).
The identity of the deceased male, 31, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant A. Patterson and Officer J. Leon reported:
The male was driving a white GMC Yukon southbound on Irvington Boulevard as a black Toyota Camry was traveling eastbound on the freeway service road at the above address. The Toyota struck the right side of the GMC in the intersection, causing the GMC to flip over and eject its driver. Witnesses stated the ejected male driver tried to get up, but fell down near a light pole. Paramedics transported him to an area hospital where he was pronounced deceased.
The male driver, 30, of the Toyota was also transported to an area hospital.
At this time, the investigation is continuing to determine which driver was at-fault and ran the red light.
