| Charges have been filed against two suspects arrested in the fatal shooting of a male at 1333 Gears Road about 4:10 a.m. on September 16, 2023.
The suspects, Edward Felton Edmond, Jr, 29, and Lason Edmond, 22, are charged with capital murder in the 184th State District Court. Their booking photos are attached to this news release.
The victim is identified as Vandy Williams, III, 33.
HPD Homicide Division Sergeant B. Roberts and Detective L. Lange reported:
HPD patrol officers responded to a shooting call at an apartment complex at the above address and found the victim unresponsive with an apparent gunshot wound. Houston Fire Department paramedics transported the victim, later identified as Williams, to an area hospital where he was pronounced deceased.
At that time, there was no known motive or suspect(s).
Further investigation identified Edward and Lason Edmond as suspects in this case. The two are cousins. Edward was in the custody of the Harris County Sheriff’s Office on unrelated charges. Lason was arrested on February 27 by the U.S. Marshal’s Service and the Louisiana State Police and booked into the St. Martin Parish Sheriff’s Office Jail. He was extradited back to Harris County on Tuesday (April 2) and is in the Harris County Jail.
