A suspect charged and wanted in the fatal shooting of a man at 826 Catherwood Place about 8:45 p.m. last Friday (March 29) is in custody.
The suspect, Ricardo Domingo Reyna, 22, is charged with murder in the 180th State District Court. A booking photo of Reyna is attached to this news release.
The victim is identified as Jaime Torres-DeLeon, 34.
HPD Homicide Division Sergeant C. Ponder and Detective K. Stringer reported:
HPD patrol officers responded to a report of a shooting at the above address and were met by Houston Fire Department paramedics providing medical assistance to a man who had been shot multiple times. The victim, later identified as Torres-DeLeon, was transported by paramedics to Ben Taub General Hospital where he was pronounced deceased.
A preliminary investigation and witness statements determined Torres-DeLeon and a male suspect got into a verbal altercation. The suspect then produced a handgun and shot him multiple times and fled the scene on foot.
Witnesses identified the suspect as Reyna. The Harris County District Attorney’s Office was contacted and a murder charge was filed.
On Tuesday (April 2), Reyna turned himself in to authorities at the Harris County Jail without incident.
