Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in the fatal shooting of a man that occurred at 8228 Swiss Lane about 11:40 p.m. June 13, 2022.
The suspect, Kentrell Rhodes, 22, is charged with murder in the 248th State District Court. A 2022 booking photo of Rhodes, who is in Texas Department of Criminal Justice custody, is attached to this news release.
He is accused in the death of Edwin Hill, 37.
HPD Homicide Division Sergeant R. Watson and Detectives R. Waterwall, A. Dudley and K. Heaverlo reported:
HPD patrol officers responded to a shooting at the above address. They found the victim suffering from multiple gunshot wounds inside the residence. Houston Fire Department paramedics pronounced him deceased at the scene.
Investigators learned an unknown number of suspects forced entry into the victim’s home and shot him before taking items from inside the residence. Investigators believe the suspect(s) also stole two vehicles from the home. The vehicles are described as a black Jaguar F-Pace and a dark blue Mitsubishi Outlander.
At that time, there were no known suspect(s) or motive in the shooting.
Further investigation identified Rhodes as the suspect in this incident and he was subsequently charged on February 15, 2024. He will be extradited back to Harris County after serving his current sentence at the Texas Department of Criminal Justice.
