Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in the fatal stabbing of a man at 500 Fannin Street about 3:30 a.m. on Jan. 15.
The suspect, Deric Adams, 48, is charged with murder in the 174th State District Court. A booking photo of Adams is attached to this news release.
The identity of the deceased male is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
HPD Homicide Division Detectives G. Zavala and A. Hernandez reported:
Officers were dispatched to a stabbing in-progress call at the above address and observed an unresponsive male in the street. He had multiple stab wounds and was pronounced deceased by paramedics. Witnesses stated the male and another male got into an argument that escalated into a stabbing.
Patrol officers detained the male suspect, later identified as Adams, who was questioned by homicide detectives and then released. After consulting with the Harris County District Attorney’s Office, it was determined the incident would be referred to a grand jury.
Following a grand jury review, a murder charge was filed and on Thursday (February 1), Adams was arrested without incident and booked into the Harris County Jail.
