UPDATE: Suspect Arrested, Charged in Fatal Shooting at 4700 Wenda Street

Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in the fatal shooting of a man at 4700 Wenda Street about 11:25 p.m. on December 10.

The suspect, Alvin Dean Banion, 40, is charged with murder in the 263rd State District Court.  A booking photo of Banion, who is hospitalized, is not available at this time.

The victim is identified as Joshua Sanders, 33.

HPD Homicide Division Detectives K. Persad, K. Fregia and J. Diaz reported:

HPD patrol officers responded to a shooting call in the parking lot of the apartment complex at the above address and found the victim, later identified as Mr. Sanders, with an apparent gunshot wound.  Houston Fire Department paramedics pronounced him deceased at the scene.

At that time, there was no known motive or suspect.

Further investigation identified Banion as the suspect in this case.  On Monday (December 18), HPD homicide detectives spoke to Banion, who is at an area hospital, and he admitted to his role in the incident because of a prior argument and was subsequently charged.
