Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in the shooting of a man at 3811 Luca Street about 11:45 p.m. last Thursday (October 26).
The suspect, Ashley Nichole Johnson, 38, is charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, aggravated assault of a family member and unlawful possession of a weapon by a felon in the 486th State District Court. A booking photo of Johnson is attached to this news release.
The victim, 35, was transported to an area hospital in stable condition.
HPD Major Assaults & Family Violence Division Detective K. Garza reported:
HPD patrol officers responded to a shooting call at a residence at the above address and learned the victim and Johnson, who were in a dating relationship, got into a physical altercation in the front yard of the residence. A family member of the victim heard the altercation and went outside to intervene. Johnson then went to her vehicle, grabbed a handgun, shot the victim and left the scene.
Houston Fire Department paramedics responded to the scene and transported the victim to the hospital.
Last Friday (Oct. 27), Johnson turned herself in at the HPD South Central Patrol Station without incident and was subsequently charged for her role in the shooting.
