WHAT: Apartment fire.
WHEN: October 11, 2023, at 1:34 a.m.
WHERE: 2800 W. TC Jester Blvd. 77018.
INJURIES: Two dogs passed away.

DAMAGE: $20,000 in estimated damage.
CAUSE: HFD Arson investigators ruled the cause as accidental due to an unspecified electrical short.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Firefighters arrived on scene within five minutes to find a fire in a second-floor apartment unit. Two unresponsive dogs were found, and crews attempted to revive them with pet oxygen masks, however they succumbed to the smoke. The firefighters extinguished the fire and checked for extension. There was moderate fire damage to the coach involved and the living room. HFD Arson investigators were requested to determine the cause and origin. 34 personnel were dispatched to this incident, including crews from Stations 38, 5, 31, 11, 13, 62, 50 and 30.
