Investigation into Fatal Crash at 3100 Collingsworth Street

A man critically injured in a crash at 3100 Collingsworth Street about 6:45 a.m. on September 11 has died.

The identity of the deceased man, 44, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant K. Harris and Officer R. Saenz reported:

The man was walking northbound on the wrong side of the street near the above address and attempted to cross the intersection, not in a crosswalk, at Collingsworth Street.  The male was struck by a gray Chevrolet Equinox traveling eastbound on Collingsworth.  The male was transported by Houston Fire Department paramedics  to Ben Taub General Hospital in critical condition. Doctors pronounced the man deceased on Saturday (October 7).

The female driver of the Equinox who remained at the scene, was determined not to be impaired and was questioned and released.

No charges have been filed at this time, as the investigation is continuing.
