UPDATE: Suspect Charged, Wanted in July Fatal Shooting at 1911 Westmead Drive

Charges have been filed against a suspect wanted in the fatal shooting of a man at 1911 Westmead Drive about 8:40 p.m. on July 25.

The suspect, Mykel White, 17, is charged with murder in the 183rd State District Court.  A photo of White, who is not in custody, is not available at this time for release.

The victim has been identified as Salomon Pleitez, 17.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant C. Ponder and Detective K. Stringer reported:

HPD patrol officers responded to a burglary of a motor vehicle call at an apartment complex at the above address and found the victim unresponsive in the driver’s seat of a Dodge Charger.  He had suffered a gunshot wound.  Houston Fire Department paramedics pronounced the victim deceased.

A preliminary investigation determined the victim, later identified as Mr. Pleitez was at the complex to meet with another male.

At that time, the suspect was described only as an unknown black male.

Further investigation identified White as the suspect in this case.  After consulting with the Harris County District Attorney’s Office, a murder charge was filed.  White remains at-large and is believed to be in St. Louis, Missouri.
