Charges have been filed against a second suspect arrested in the fatal shooting of a man that occurred at 2091 Westridge Street about 12:55 a.m. on May 13.
The juvenile suspect, 17 (16 at the time of the incident), has been referred to Harris County Juvenile Probation authorities on a capital murder charge.
Another previously arrested juvenile male suspect, 16, is in Harris County Juvenile Probation custody on a charge of capital murder.
Booking photos of juvenile suspects are not releasable.
Both are accused in the death of Cameron Fleeks, 25.
HPD Homicide Division Sergeant N. Miyako and Detectives K. Stringer and R. Waterwall reported:
Officers responded to a report of a shooting in a parking lot at the above address. Mr. Fleeks was found suffering from a gunshot wound and was transported to an area hospital by responding Houston Fire Department paramedics where he was pronounced deceased.
Witnesses stated Fleeks and the suspect, described at that time as only a Hispanic or black male, had a physical altercation which led to the suspect shooting him. The suspect then fled the scene on foot.
Further investigation identified the juvenile as the suspect in this case. The case was presented to the Harris County District Attorney’s Office and charges were accepted. He was arrested on Thursday (Aug. 3) without incident.
Subsequent investigation identified the second juvenile suspect. The Harris County District Attorney’s Office was consulted and he was arrested on Monday (August 14) without incident.
