WHAT: House fire.
WHEN: July 30, 2023, at 2:39 p.m.
WHERE: 7800 block of Sandy St. 77028.
INJURIES: No reported injuries.
PROPERTY SAVED: $65,000 in estimated property saved.
DAMAGE: $35,000 in estimated damage.
CAUSE: HFD Arson investigators ruled the cause as accidental (carelessly discarded smoking materials).
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Firefighters arrived on scene within four minutes to find fire coming from a 1-story house and made an offensive attack. The fire appeared to have started between the kitchen and the back porch. A primary and secondary search were completed with no one found. Crews pulled the ceiling and ventilated the house. They extinguished the fire and requested HFD Arson investigators to determine the cause and origin. 40 personnel were dispatched to this incident, including firefighters from Stations 34, 15, 19, 45, 32, 39, 41, 43, 18, 30 and Rehab 17.
