WHAT: Apartment fire.
WHEN: July 22, 2023, at 6:17 p.m.

INJURIES: No reported injuries.

DAMAGE: $14,000 in estimated damage.
CAUSE: Unintentional (candle).
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Firefighters arrived on scene within four minutes to find smoke and fire coming from the parking lot side of an apartment building. They made an offensive attack and conducted a primary search. The crews extinguished the fire and contained it to the exterior of the building. There was no damage inside the unit, except for sheetrock which was removed to check for extension. A candle had ignited nearby items and caused a fire to burn upward to the siding and a storage building. 34 personnel were dispatched to this incident, including firefighters from Stations 68, 83, 10, 51, 60, 69, 73, 57 and Rescue 10.
