Houston police are investigating the fatal shooting of a male at 2820 Chimney Rock Road about 5:30 a.m. on Thursday (July 27).
The identity of the deceased male is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
HPD Homicide Division Sergeant K. Persad and Detective L. Gonzales reported:
HPD patrol officers responded to the above address after being advised of a robbery incident. Officers learned a male was in his vehicle in the drive-thru of a restaurant when two male suspects drove up behind him. One of the suspects exited the vehicle and attempted to rob the male. The male exited his vehicle and fled on foot, leaving his vehicle behind. The suspect then got back into his vehicle and both suspects fled the scene. Witnesses reported hearing gunshots being fired as the suspects fled but were unaware of anyone being struck at that time.
A short time later, officers located a vehicle matching the description of the suspect vehicle in the 5800 block of Val Verde Street. One the the males in the vehicle had been struck by gunfire. Houston Fire Department paramedics transported him to Ben Taub General Hospital where he was pronounced deceased. A second male was detained at the scene.
At this time, the shooting remains under investigation.
