Houston police are investigating the fatal shooting of a man that occurred at 3401 Blalock Road about 1:15 a.m. on Saturday (July 22).
The identity of the victim, 62, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
HPD Homicide Division Detectives J. Caten and M. Barrow reported:
HPD patrol officers responded to a shooting at an apartment complex at the above address and found Houston Fire Department paramedics transporting the victim with multiple gunshot wounds to to the hospital. The victim, a security guard, was pronounced deceased at Memorial Hermann Greater Heights Hospital.
A preliminary investigation and witness statements developed a description of a possible suspect. A male matching this description was located near the scene and, as officers attempted to speak with him, the male fled on foot. The male was detained with assistance from HPD K-9 and was transported to an area hospital with non-life-threatening leg injuries.
No charges have been filed at this time, as the investigation is continuing.
