House Fire with Vehicle in the Greater Uptown Area

WHAT: House/vehicle fire.

WHEN: June 30, 2023, at 9:43 p.m.

WHERE: Chimney Rock Rd. at Olympia Dr. 77057.

INJURIES: One citizen transported to the hospital.

PROPERTY SAVED: $855,000 in estimated property saved.

DAMAGE: $155,000 in estimated damage.

CAUSE: Accidental (vehicle crashed into house then caught fire).

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Firefighters arrived on scene within five minutes to find a car crashed into the garage of a house and caught fire. The fire had spread to another vehicle that was in the garage and to the garage itself. Crews made an attack on the fire and ventilated the roof of the garage. The fire was extinguished with no fire extension into the home, however there was significant smoke damage. Fans were used to ventilate the smoke from the residence. The Houston Police Department had the driver in custody. They were evaluated and transported by HFD EMS. HFD Arson investigators were requested. 28 personnel responded to this incident, including firefighters from Stations 28, 60, 3 and 2.
