Suspect Arrested, Charged in Fatal Shooting at 10503 Kirkglen Drive

Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in the fatal shooting of a man at 10503 Kirkglen Drive about 11:35 a.m. on Sunday (June 11).  

The suspect, Frankie Luke Vernagallo, 79, is charged with murder in the 482nd State District Court.  A booking photo of Vernagallo is attached to this news release.

The identity of the deceased male is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant M. Holbrook and Detective R. Lujan reported:

HPD patrol officers responded to a shooting at the above address and found an unresponsive male with an apparent gunshot wound lying on the ground.  Houston Fire Department paramedics transported the male to an area hospital where he was pronounced deceased.

According to witnesses at the scene, the suspect, later identified as Vernagallo, went into his residence.  Officers were able to get Vernagallo out of his residence without further incident and found a weapon in his possession.

Further investigation determined the victim and Vernagallo were neighbors and had an on going history of disputes.  The Harris County District Attorney’s Office was consulted and Vernagallo was subsequently charged for his role in the shooting. The investigation is continuing.
