WHAT: House fire.
WHEN: June 8, 2023 at 9:11 p.m.
WHERE: 3800 block of Goodhope St. 77021.
INJURIES: One civilian transported and pronounced deceased at the hospital.
PROPERTY SAVED: $89,677 in estimated property saved.
DAMAGE: $62,000 in estimated damage.
CAUSE: Under investigation.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Firefighters arrived on scene within three minutes to find fire and smoke coming from a 1-story house. Neighbors reported a person might be trapped inside and crews made entry to search. An offensive attack was made on the fire and the home was ventilated. One victim was found unresponsive and not breathing. HFD EMS crews began care and transported them to the hospital where, unfortunately, they were pronounced deceased. The fire was quickly extinguished, and CenterPoint arrived on scene to secure the power. HFD Arson investigators were requested to determine the cause and origin of the fire. 39 personnel responded to this incident, including firefighters from Stations 46, 23, 21, 25, 35, 40, 37, 24 and Rescue 42.
